Our cosmetic braces and Invisalign treatments are designed with both speed and effectiveness in mind. We know how urgently our patients want their new smiles, and we offer treatments with short treatment times to meet those needs. Whether you’re looking for Invisalign aligners or other orthodontic solutions, St Margarets Smiles is here to help you achieve the perfect smile quickly and affordably.
How long does it take for Invisalign® to work?
Your aligner will gently apply pressure to your teeth. You’ll barely feel this slight but precise force; however, it will gradually move your teeth into their preferred position.
The Initial Steps
At the start of the treatment process, we’ll take a series of digital images and impressions of your teeth. This information will let us plan the exact tooth movements needed to straighten your smile.
Regular Updates
We’ll give you a new aligner every few weeks during your treatment. Each aligner is slightly different from the last one—and each perfects your new smile a little more with subtle adjustments to your teeth.
Seeing Results
On average, patients can begin seeing results in the first weeks of their treatment. This initial progress is a sign that your treatment plan is effectively working towards achieving your desired smile.
The Journey to Completion
Eventually, over several months, your teeth will have noticeably shifted position. This transformation is achieved without fixed braces or appointments to adjust orthodontic apparatus. The entire Invisalign treatment typically takes between 12-18 months to complete from start to finish, ensuring a thorough and effective alignment.
This streamlined process not only enhances your smile but also fits seamlessly into your lifestyle, allowing you to witness continuous improvement without significant disruption.

How often do I have to come in for an appointment and how often do I have to wear them?
You’ll give you a new aligner every few weeks during your treatment. Each aligner is slightly different from the last one—and each perfects your new smile a little more with subtle adjustments to your teeth. Typically, these aligners are worn for about two weeks before moving on to the next set in your personalised plan. This ensures a gradual and consistent movement towards achieving your ideal smile.
The number of aligners you’ll need is tailored specifically to your dental requirements. This customization means that the total duration of wearing Invisalign® aligners can vary significantly based on individual needs. By adjusting the aligners every few weeks, the process not only perfects your smile but does so in a manner that is uniquely suited to your dental structure and goals.
Fixed Braces
How Do Fixed Braces Work?
Fixed braces are an effective orthodontic solution designed to slowly move your teeth into the correct position by applying gentle pressure. Here’s how they work:
How Fixed Braces Work
Small brackets are bonded to your teeth and then connected with a wire. This wire creates tension, gradually aligning your teeth to their proper position. The process involves the following steps:
- Bonding Brackets: Small brackets are attached to each tooth.
- Connecting with Wires: A wire is threaded through the brackets.
- Applying Gentle Pressure: The wire applies gentle pressure, moving your teeth into alignment over time.
Regular Adjustments
Patients can expect to meet with our orthodontist every four to ten weeks. During these appointments, we will check your braces and make any necessary adjustments. Over this period, we will steadily and regularly tighten and change the wires to ensure that your teeth are moving in the right direction.
Additional Support
Our orthodontist might also prescribe springs or elastic bands if the straightening process needs extra help. These additional components can provide the necessary force to move teeth into their desired positions more effectively.
At St Margarets Smiles, we are committed to providing you with the best care throughout your orthodontic journey. Our fixed braces are designed to deliver results, giving you the confident, beautiful smile you deserve.
