What counts as a dental emergency?
A dental emergency is any situation where you're in significant dental pain, have suffered an injury to your mouth, or have a problem that can't safely wait until your next routine appointment. Common dental emergencies include severe toothache, a broken or knocked-out tooth, a lost or broken crown or filling, dental abscesses, swelling around a tooth, and serious bleeding from the mouth.
If you're experiencing any of these, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. We'll do everything we can to see you quickly - often the same day. Our priority is always to relieve your discomfort, stabilise the issue, and then plan any further treatment that's needed in your own time.

At your appointment, your dentist will start by listening carefully to what's happened and how you're feeling. They'll then examine the affected area, take any necessary x-rays, and explain clearly what they think is causing the problem.
Relieving your discomfort
Our first priority is always to make you comfortable. Depending on what's needed, this may involve a temporary filling, antibiotics, drainage of an abscess, or removing a tooth that can't be saved.
Talking through next steps
If you'd like an even more thorough clean, we can add Airflow polishing - a gentle stream of water, air and very fine powder that lifts surface staining from coffee, tea, red wine and smoking. It's particularly popular before special occasions or alongside professional whitening.
