A long-lasting, natural-looking solution for missing teeth at our friendly St Margarets practice. Whether you're missing one tooth or several, we'll talk you through your options honestly and help you decide what's right for you.

A dental implant is a small, biocompatible titanium post that's gently placed into your jawbone to act as a replacement tooth root. Once it's healed and bonded with your bone, a custom-made crown, bridge or denture is fitted on top - giving you a tooth (or teeth) that look, feel and function just like the real thing.
For most patients in Twickenham, dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. Unlike traditional dentures or bridges, implants stand independently without needing to alter your other teeth, and they're designed to last for many years - often a lifetime - with proper care.
From your first enquiry to your completed treatment, we make the process clear, supportive and comfortable.
Dental implants suit a wide range of patients with missing teeth, from a single gap to multiple missing teeth.
They're particularly well suited to:
Dental implant treatment at St Margarets Smiles is led by Dr Paramjit Panesar, who holds a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from UCL and a postgraduate qualification in Dental Implants from the world-renowned Eastman Dental Institute. With over 20 years of experience in St Margarets and formal accreditation in implantology, Paramjit's calm, considered approach makes him a trusted choice for patients across Twickenham and the wider TW1 area.
For more complex implant cases - such as full-arch all-on-four treatment, bone grafting or sinus augmentation - we have direct access to Dr Arjinder Chohan at our sister practice, Richmond Hill Dental. Arj holds a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons and provides the full range of advanced implant treatments. This gives our patients the reassurance of an entire pathway covered, from straightforward single implants right through to complex full-mouth rehabilitation.

Dental implants offer something no other tooth replacement can match: a permanent, fully functioning tooth that integrates with your own jawbone.

We believe in honest, transparent pricing with no hidden surprises. Full pricing for all our treatments is available on our fee guide page.
Dental implant treatment at St Margarets Smiles starts from £1,400 per implant, with the abutment and crown that fits on top from a further £1,400. The total cost depends on how many teeth you're replacing and whether any preparatory treatment - such as a bone graft (from £600) or sinus augmentation (from £600) - is needed before placement.
For more involved cases like all-on-four treatment (from £9,000) or stabilising loose dentures with implants (from £3,000), your dentist will provide a detailed written treatment plan with everything itemised after your consultation.

How long do dental implants last?
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, dental implants can last for many years - often a lifetime. The crown that sits on top of the implant typically lasts 10-15 years before it may need replacing, but the implant itself is designed to be a permanent solution.
Is dental implant treatment uncomfortable?
Most patients are pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the procedure is. Implant placement is carried out under local anaesthetic so you won't feel anything during treatment, and most patients describe the recovery as gentler than having a tooth extracted. We'll provide clear aftercare guidance to help you stay comfortable in the days following your treatment.
How long does the whole process take?
From your initial consultation to fitting your final tooth, dental implant treatment typically takes 4-9 months. Most of this time is spent waiting for the implant to integrate with your jawbone (the most important part). For more complex cases involving bone grafting, the process can take longer - we'll give you a clear timeline at your consultation.
Am I too old for dental implants?
Age itself is rarely a barrier to dental implant treatment - what matters more is your overall health and the condition of your jawbone. We've successfully treated patients well into their 80s. Your dentist will assess your suitability carefully at your consultation and let you know honestly whether implants are right for you.
What's the difference between implants and a bridge or denture?
Implants stand independently in your jawbone, so they don't rely on or affect your other teeth. Bridges use the teeth either side as anchors, which means those teeth need to be prepared and shaped. Dentures sit on top of your gums and can sometimes feel less stable. We'll talk through all your options at your consultation so you can choose what's right for you.
Do you accept implant patients from outside St Margarets?
Yes, we welcome implant patients from across the TW1 postcode and the wider Richmond upon Thames borough - including East Twickenham, Isleworth, Whitton and Strawberry Hill. We're a short walk from St Margarets train station with pay-and-display parking right outside the practice.
What if I need more complex implant treatment?
Straightforward implant cases are treated here at St Margarets Smiles by Paramjit. For more involved treatment - such as all-on-four implants or significant bone grafting - we work closely with our sister practice, Richmond Hill Dental, where Arj provides the full range of advanced implant treatments. This means you have access to a complete pathway of care, all within our trusted family of practices.
